Peja

Begin your walking tour of Peja and visit the Old Market of Peja, Çarshia e Pejës, the Peja Museum, the Institute for Heritage Protection, and Monument, traditional mill and the “Kulla” of Haxhi Zeka, a Peja patriot who fought against Ottoman rule for 30 years.

Vranoc

Drive to Vranoc Village and enjoy the traditional hospitality of “Bukë, Kripë e Zemër” (bread, salt, and heart!). Visit the monument of the war hero, Ardian Krasniqi, Ottoman archeological sites and Mosque. In Vranoc, you will also visit the “Kullas” of prominent and successful Kosovo, meet their families, and hear stories from family members. You will hear the history of the Krasniqi Family from Sherif Krasniqi, the oldest member of the family and meet the family of Harry Bajraktari, one of the most successful Kosovo people in the US. You will also learn about traditional manufacturing techniques as you visit the unique Old Stone Mill and see the “valavica” which was used for washing clothes in the old days.

Lluka Village

In Lluka Village, learn about the exceptional story of the Geci family Kullas. Mr. Geci is a successful businessman in the US and co-owner of the Stone Castle Winery in Rahovec. Hear about his plans for the winery and other investments in Kosovo. Experience local traditional hospitality and cuisine.

Deçan

After lunch, head west to Deçan, a small town located in the stunning Deçan Gorge and visit the Deçan Monastery, located at the entrance of the Gorge and alongside the River Lumbardhi. The Monastery was built between 1327 and 1335 by the Serbian King St. Stephen of Deçan. Although the buildings suffered damage during the Turkish occupation, the beautiful 14th-century frescoes were completely preserved. Today, 30 monks live in the monastery, continuing centuries of traditions.
