Radoniq

When we decided to live the Gjakova Center, and look to further explore the surroundings, on the way to Prishtina 14km far from Gjakova you will find the second biggest lake in Kosova the “Radoniqi Lake”. As soon as you are on the road to Prishtina you will have to keep the right line of the road (which means the opposite side of the road splitting which will send you to Deçan). You can continue on the left side towards Novo Sella, on a half/asphalt it road, or to take a longer road through villages Cermjan and Rakoc.

Radoniqi Lake keeps the name of a village which was drowned when lake was established on ‘80s, while forcing villagers to move in the surrounding villages. This lake today supplies Gjakova and Rahovec with drinking water. Swimming is prohibited buy law (but citizens on hot summers do swim) the wonderful view of the lake it give a great feeling to walk around and even visit some of the villages around it.

For those fencing hunting this is a great opportunity to join the villagers of the village Ratishi and to further visit the deepest picks of the mountains which do have a lot of different animals and it is great place for hunting.
