Letnica

Positioned along Karadaku Mountains, village Letnica is scattered in a territory consisting of three hills with dense vegetation; and bordered with Republic of Macedonia. In middle of August, 14th and the 15th, the village becomes the host of many Christian Catholics from around the world. The Pilgrims raise their tents beside the Church, and stay awake through the night, lit by the candles lighting throughout the village; with the masses being held on the next day.

Believers conduct their rituals, by touching the statue of Saint Mary with their jewelry and by trying get a grip of a piece of cloth which gets divided into many pieces. The Church of St. Mary that looks down on the village, once used to be often visited by Mother Theresa and her family during her childhood. It is said that Mother Theresa got the inspiration for her life’s work in, this church.
